Literature in moving image. A case study of selected films by Martin Ježek.

The dissertation deals with selected films of experimental filmmaker Martin Ježek, who interpret works of experimental literature of the 1960s, or literary works that preceded it. In this pattern, I follow the tightness of the relationship between literary text and film, which I describe in the analytic explanations of films. Text and film represents three types of application: in structure (script and score), performativity (performative reading of the text in while filming) and in sound of the film. This tightness, the way the text is interpreted, simultaneously defined the categorization of the selected sample. This chapter also represents the catalog of selected films. A special category is the analysis of the aspect of performativity, which is present on three levels: in the situation of film projection, during filming and during post-production of the film. Another level of the work is dedicated to a review of Martin Ježek´s filmography from the perspective of gallery practice and contemporary art. In this part, dissertation also analyses the conceptual strategies and contexts that accompany the filmmaking process. The focus of the research is organically based on the practical part of the dissertation, which takes the form of an author´s video, exhibition and screening program.

Diagnostic and therapeutic ways of visualization methods in occupational therapy. Subtitl: Use of art therapy and the KAWA model.

Name of thesis: Diagnostic and therapeutic ways of visualization methods in occupational therapy. Use of art therapy and the KAWA model. The aim: The aim of the theses is to compare both visual conceptions - art therapy and the Kawa model - on the theme of a river, to check possibilities and risks of the use of both techniques in occupational therapy on the territory of the Czech Republic, and to try joining these two concepts into the one therapeutic method. Methods: The theoretical part deals with the dynamics of the psyche and other performance determinants, theoretical background of methods, their use and the explanation of semiotics and psychological symbolism. The practical part presents case interpretations of several people with different diagnosis in order to verify the applicability of both methods in praxes as well as the suitability to connect them to a common concept of work with a patient. Results: I found out that art therapy with its river theme and the Kawa model are deeply connected throughout the dynamics of the psyche. Art therapy offers more options to look for behaviour motives, the Kawa model is well applied even without a deep knowledge of symbolism and therefore can be well comprehensible. the essence of photography in the digital age

The diploma thesis solves the question of photography not only from the point of view of a work of art, but as a part of a cultural code. Photography in the digital era has the potential to become a new kind of visual language. From this perspective, the photographic universe reveals several essential questions, which we address here. These questions explore topics such as: historical development of images and text, the difference between traditional images and technical images, the cultural impact of mass production of digital devices and photographs, the essence of photography as a symbol from the point of view of semiotics and logic, the difficulties of deciphering photography, the linguistic aspects of digital photography or the meaning of photography in virtual (public) space. Due to the nature of the monitored topics, the work will address problems mainly related to language, logic, epistemology, human freedom in the context of man/device and marginally also semiotics.

Language of Interaction and Communication Design

The present work seeks to describe implicit patterns of natural language and cul- ture in human-computer interaction (HCI). Although extensive research has been done in the fields of HCI semiotics, and HCI culture, we try to bring novel insights through the semiotics perspective, and to propose a set of design guidelines for the international HCI practitioners. The steps to achieve this are: First, to define the semiotic and linguistic system of the user interface (UI) and create a related methodology, and second, to apply the acquired methodology to cross-cultural UI comparison. In the first part we propose a design and analytic method for ad- dressing UI language patterns. We defined the elements of the user-UI interaction grammar, which we then used to form our semiotic evaluation method. The semi- otic evaluation method is then compared to heuristic analysis which is already widely used in HCI. While our results show the complementarity of both the methods, semiotic analysis is able to uncover otherwise hidden aspects of the UI. The second part focuses on the ideology of the interaction. Using rhetorics and persuasion techniques the UI lead users to interact in a predetermined way. An analogy between the political and UI ideologies is showed. The confident woman media construction in the czech version of Harper's Bazaar

This thesis deals with the construction of ideal female reader inscribed on the Czech edition of the magazine Harper's Bazaar. The theoretical part handles the important findings in the field of semiotics. The semiotic analysis itself is the crucial part of my work. Within the wide angle of field of semiotic processes character and its function, mentions the various concepts and theories that are linked to this issue. Chapter which binds to the functioning of the secondary semiotic system, in other words, the myth is based on the work Mythologies by Roland Barthes. Mythological analysis is crucial for the practical part. The theoretical framework also deals with studies on "inscribed" readers from Colin Sparks and Michelle Campbell that was one of the main motivations for creating this text. It analyzes important aspects of the theory of coding and decoding Stuart Hall. Last but not least, refers to the sociology of knowledge through the work of Social Construction of Reality from a pair of authors Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann. Information value and acceptability in weather forecast

7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual).
